How SoundOff GR uses your data

What we collect

• Your address, geocoded to an approximate location. We store coordinates, not your street address.
• Your IP address, recorded on our server only, to detect spam and abuse. Never shown publicly.
• An optional in-area flag. If you tap ‘Verify I’m in the area,’ your phone checks whether you’re near the amphitheater and sends only a yes/no. Your exact GPS location never leaves your device.
• A random anti-abuse id stored in your browser. It’s a random value, not your identity, used only to limit coordinated or abusive submissions. It isn’t shared and isn’t used to track you across sites.
• The event, whether you can hear it and how loud, an optional comment, an optional decibel reading, and the time.
• Anonymous pageview counts, using cookieless, privacy-respecting analytics (Plausible). It doesn’t use cookies, collect personal data, or store your IP address for analytics.

How we use it

We place each report on a public map of estimated loudness and use the signals above to score how trustworthy a report is, so a handful of bad actors can’t distort the map. The public map only ever shows masked areas about half a mile across — several city blocks — never a precise point. Each area is large enough that a report can’t be tied to a specific home. We never show your address, your exact location, or your IP.

How long we keep it

We keep reports to maintain the map over time. (A detailed retention policy is in progress and will be published here.)
